You need to re-learn metric to imperial conversions.

This could be awesome, I wonder if it’ll have the adjustability of their other bikes, and I wonder if the rear travel will change? 140 rear travel although a small change would make it an even more capable all rounder.

I can guarantee you that 5mm of real travel would make a difference as there actually is a difference, maybe its slightly more room for bottom out ramp up, run a little more sag and a more progressive tune , or maybe you run everything the same and it just gives you 5 mm more travel and 5mm more breathing room – would it make or break a bike ? No… but if it didn’t have any tangible effect why would yeti make lunch ride additions and why would other brands such as Santa Cruz make bikes that can be long shocked ?

I’m guessing that’s a Range based on the color. My LBS has a couple so they are ready for Tuesday’s release.

Can we have a ‘stupid ideas’ thread where we post any and all stupid idea to do with bikes? Just enough for it to be…

usb c would be 240w max with future revisions. batteries can‘t receive full power over the whole charging process, that would take a while to fully charge?

4/6/2024 12:37am

Yeah, but you usually have the full nigh to charge it… Compared to a normal laptop I’d say it could easily be up to 10 hours to charge it if we’re talking about a 500 Wh battery.

I’d say there’s a reason ebikes currently have purpose made chargers, but it might be possible to make do with a USB c charger as well. Might make for a good selling point even if it is just a backup charging option.

Hell no. A lot of the original Haibikes with the small drive sprocket on the Bosch motor had an idler. I’m guessing they took advantage of it to raise the pivot as well (motor clearance and all), but in the other hand not to the tune we see with actual high pivot bikes of today. At the time it was used for packaging as the drive sprocket was around 20t and thus limited pivot placement a lot.

Honestly its not a bad idea. We know companies come here. If there is a specific forum that shows how stupid their prototype frame is with its new flashy feature that no one asked for *COUGH* INTERNAL CABLE ROUTING…….. *Cough*… then maybe. Just maybe. Someone will say, “yeah ditch the idea.”

Crestline e-bike isn’t high pivot. Rocky Mountain was the first HP Emtb I can remember.

Stupid in quotation marks, meaning what might seem stupid to someone is another man’s patent kinda idea…

My Fugitive can be short or long travel depending on the rear shock travel.

if we take a 2.7 leverage rate on a 50mm rear shock travel we get 135mm.

2.7 on a 55mm rear shock gets you 148.5, so lets call it 150mm rear travel.  Youre gonna notice that.

Theres a big difference in shock travel, and rear wheel travel

5mm of additional rear travel, not a chance.

Youre right, my bad

5mm=.197″

I did quick math in my head

12mm=1/2″ on mechanical drawings

so a touch less than 1/4″ is what my original comment was meant to be.  Still totally negligible as wheel travel increase.

I know this has probably been mentioned, but I saw a FW bike in rock creek with an electric RAD coil and a controller on the left side of the bars.  Didn’t get any pics or figure out who the rider was 🙁

Asa had one on his rig with sensors on the brake calipers as well. It was in the slideshow.

I think youre onto something with this line of thinking.

removable battery, charge it with USB while at the office, or at home.  Use the proprietary charger for fast charging.

USB also provides a way to charge/run accessories (phone, bike computer, lights, etc)

To each their own really, neither of you are particularly right or wrong. Just depends on the lens you use to view the world.

Don’t know what the geo or kinematics are, but super interesting concept with separating spring and damper.

Not really bike tech related,  but does anyone know what’s going on with Alpinestars riders using the MX helmet (Dak, Dunne..) ? Ethan Craik was using it last year as well. I don’t think it is a new DH helmet because it looks exactly like the sm10. Craik is also back to a standard Bluegrass DH helmet now
