I have these china brakes mounted below the frame. What are my options to replace them?

I’ve recently bought onebot s7, which is fine for my 5 mile riding a week and I honestly bought it for $300 so no regrets, however the brakes that are literally not working are bothering me horribly. I went ahead and bought some shimanos to realize the manufacturer has actually used some non-standard breaks that are having pull lever on the left side to have them mounted on the bottom of the frame.

I spent evening researching and there is only 1 breaking system with these twisted levers so I didn’t find any solution. My goal is to install something that actually stops the bike.

– Have anyone had same issue and overcame it?
– Is there any bracket that can help me move brakes to regular position and use normal brakes?

  1. I’m not sure what the problem is. The orientation of the brakes shouldn’t matter. You can run new line or tube and have the handles on which ever size you like. Disk brake calipers are pretty standard, the bracket that goes between the caliper and the frame should line up the calipers properly.

  2. These are cable actuated brakes I used: Zoom DB680 (dual piston mechanical) or Zoom HB100 (hydraulic).

Your current brakes were not even installed properly, were all the pads surface touching the disc?

  3. It looks like a standard IS mount, so any brake will work within reason

Edit: why am I wrong? That looks like a standard cable caliper that’s been flipped.

You could do the same with a hydro

  4. I recommend picking up some semi hydraulic brakes since they actually use the same cable line as regular mechanical brakes (only from the cable to the piston is hydraulic, but not from the brake lever to the caliper). That way you don’t have to worry about rerouting cables and/or messing around with the brake sensors.
