Tenways CGO600 (Single speed, Hub) vs Luna Fixed Stealth (Internal Gear Hub, Mid)

Located in Seattle and looking for an ebike to buy groceries with. Planning to add a rack and attach two Ortlieb Back-Roller Pro Panniers (35 Litres each). There are some hills on my route (Usually 7-8% but can be as high as 11% grade). I prefer to stay seated in a low gear and rarely ride out of the saddle.

I’m looking for an ebike with low maintenance and have narrowed it down to two belt drive bikes. I like the look and simplicity of the Tenways CGO600 but the single speed is holding me back (Also this [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tAkU9HW6SY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tAkU9HW6SY)). Alternatively, I’m looking at the Luna Fixed Stealth which has a mid motor but don’t want to deal with the hassle of maintaining an internal gear hub/dealing with higher wear because of the mid motor.

Which bike would you recommend? Some other questions

1. Can both bikes be ridden if the battery is empty? Would the hub motor be harder for this because of the weight distribution (especially with the panniers)

2. Which bike has more longevity and less maintenance? Is the single speed that much of an advantage over the IGH in terms of having less components to fail?

3. Is the mid motor wearing down the drive train an issue or is that less of an issue with pedal assisted ebikes (no throttle) that use belt drives instead of chains

4. Would using a hub motor with single speed be difficult on Seattle hills, especially starting from a stop?

5. Not sure how to use a single speed ebike. Am I supposed to use the levels of pedal assist the same way I would use gears?

6. How catastrophic are failures with a hub/mid motor. This video [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tAkU9HW6SY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tAkU9HW6SY) mentions that hub motors loosen wheel spokes which is a lot worse than replacing a chain because a mid motor wore it out.

  1. The Luna is going to be better at climbing because of the mid drive motor and the gears. The Luna motor also has 2x the power of the ten ways.

Also the ten ways cuts off power at 20mph.

    1. Yes. Maybe, not sure.

    2. Similar.

    3. No.

    4. Yes.

    5. No PAS doesn’t change the gear ratio Just adds more juice.

    6. Hubs suck to change tire. Mid drive sucks when chain breaks but you got gates it won’t break.
